WHAT IS A MUDRA?  A "mudra" is a positioning of the hands intended to direct or retain energy flow and to connect parts of the body to the brain as life force energy flows through the body. Different mudras cultivate different energies. They are universal and can be practiced almost anywhere and anytime.

GARUDA MUDRA: Garuda Mudra, symbolizing the wings of a bird, represents inner freedom. In Hindu mythology Garuda (“Eagle”) is known as the king of birds. He transports the God Vishnu and is eager to help humanity fight against demons.  This mudra activates blood flow and circulation, invigorates the organs, and balances energy on both sides of the body. Whether in the pelvic or chest area, it invigorates and stimulates. It relaxes and relieves pain related to menstrual complaints, stomach upsets, and respiratory difficulties. It also helps people deal with exhaustion and mood fluctuations.

VISHUDDHI (THROAT) CHAKRA: The Vishuddhi Chakra is located in the vicinity of the Larynx – and is therefore also known as the Throat Chakra. It is a center of physical and spiritual purification. With the help of the Vishuddhi Chakra we can rid ourselves of the toxic substances that are absorbed from the environment, as well as mental impurities. An important and life-supporting function of the Chakra is the purification and detoxification of harmful substances that accumulate in the body and primarily come from the food we eat and the air we breath.
